Shortly after 6am Saturday, September 15, 2018, the Hazard Police Department received a report of a collision involving a car and a bicycle on North Main Street between Memorial Drive and Turner Avenue. Collision Reconstructionists responded to the scene to assist in the investigation. Preliminary information, as well as video recovered from a nearby security camera, indicated the bicyclist, identified as 29-year-old Jennifer Hunt of Hazard, was traveling north on the right shoulder of the road when she attempted to cross the street, pulling into the path of a car approaching from the rear. The car was operated by 62-year-old Ruben Miller, also of Hazard. Hunt was transported to Hazard ARH Hospital and then airlifted to UK Medical Center for treatment of injuries. She is currently listed in critical but stable condition. Miller was not injured.
