On Friday, September 14, 2018, around 11:20pm, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of shots fired on West KY HWY 80 in the Combs Community. At the scene, a female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head, was located. Through investigation, the sheriff’s office obtained the name of a male suspect who witnesses said was possibly involved. The male fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle prior to deputies’ arrival. With assistance from the Kentucky State Police, the suspect, identified as Dustin Howard, was located in Breathitt County. Howard was charged with wanton endangerment and attempted murder. He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
