Two Nicholasville Men Sentenced for Cybertstalking and School Shooting Hoax

Two Nicholasville, KY, men were sentenced on Friday, September 28, 2018 for using social media to harass and intimidate an acquaintance, with threats of a prospective shooting at a Jessamine County school. Tristan Kelly, 18, was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison, and Cody Ritchey, 19, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison. Both pled guilty in June 2018 to one count of cyberstalking. The two admitted to creating a Snapchat profile on February 17, 2018 with a third party’s name and picture who did not know about their actions. They used the profile to publish a series or posts suggesting the third party would attack a Jessamine County public school. The profile was also used to harass an acquaintance, identified as K.S. The threats were determined to be a hoax.
