Governor Matt Bevin appointed Tommy Bailey to the Commission on Human Rights. Bailey, of Hazard, is a retired Social Security claims representative. She will represent the 7th Supreme Court District and serve for a term expiring September 12, 2019. The Commission on Human Rights receives, intiaties, investigates, conciliates, and rules upon jurisdictional complaints alleging violations of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act. Certified with substantial equivalency to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Commission also enforces the policies set forth in the US Civil Rights Act, the US Fair Housing Act, the US Americans with Disabilities Act, and other federal civil rights laws.
