Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Possible School Threat

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible threat at George Washington High School. On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, the sheriff’s office received a call regarding a threat of violence made through SnapChat toward select students. A student at the school was identified by the complainant as the individual who made the post. As a precaution, the Kanawha County Board of Education staff advised the student not to come to school until an investigation could be conducted. Detectives determined that this student did not make the post. A digital trace led investigators to a different residence in South Charleston where several teenagers reside, including students at George Washington High School. Individuals were interviewed and the investigation is ongoing.
