The Department for Local Government has announced $80,000 in Recreational Trails Program funding for Floyd County Fiscal Court. The grant will help fund the pavement of an existing trail and trailhead at Middle Creek National Battlefield. The trail, which will be approximately 2,960 feet long, will also have a parking lot for visitors. The project includes trailside facilities such as benches and bike racks. The Recreational Trails Program is funded by the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration, with funds administered by the Department for Local Government to select grant applicants for the creation and development of recreational trails.
