Around 6pm Sunday, November 4, 2018, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville received a call from Martin County 911 of a single vehicle crash on KY Rt 645 in the Inez Community. Upon arrival, Troopers determined a 2003 Ford F250 operated by Michael Ferrell was traveling south bound on KY Rt 645 when the operator lost control of the vehicle and veered off the southbound shoulder. Ferrell attempted a sharp turn to regain control of the vehicle and overcorrected. The vehicle traveled off the roadway, striking an embankment, then overturned, ejecting Ferrell. He was transported to Highlands Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
