Scam Alert Issued for Calls Targeting Grandparents

Three Kentucky grandparents were robber of nearly $18,000 recently after falling victim to a “grandparent scam.” Six grandparents in Boyle, Butler, Fayette, Jefferson, Meade, and Pulaski counties reported the scam phone call. The victims say they receive a phone call from someone claiming to be their grandchild in an out-of-state jail and injured after driving under the influence, with a second person claiming to be an attorney or law enforcement officer claiming they need to send money to pay a bail bond. Citizens are reminded to never trust anyone who calls asking for money and to verify the caller’s identity and location.
