On Monday, November 5, 2018, around 12pm Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith responded to a complaint of two people getting out of a car parked behind Girdler Elementary and walking into the woods. Upon arrival, the vehicle was located, and two individuals were observed on the hillside behind the school. As Sheriff Smith started toward them, they fled. Around 2:45pm, one suspect, identified as 32-year-old Edna Sizemore, of Manchester, was apprehended and charged with evading police. She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center. The vehicle was towed from the school parking lot.
