The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a possible burglary the morning of Wednesday, November 7, 2018. Deputies were dispatched to Interstate Auction after receiving complaints of a male subject observed taking items from the business and placing them into a moving van, in which he left the scene. The vehicle was found at a residence off North Florence Street, where the suspect was observed unloading items he took from the store. The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Michael Smith, was detained by Corbin City Police officers until responding deputies arrived. He was charged with burglary and vehicle theft. Smith was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
