Georgetown Businessman Sentenced for Illegal Transportation and Disposal of Hazardous Waste

A former Central Kentucky businessman, currently residing in Austin, Texas, was sentenced in US District Court on Friday, November 9, 2018. Kenneth Gravitt, 63, was sentenced to 36 months on convictions to the illegal storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste. In May of 2018, Gravitt pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit crimes related to the handling of hazardous waste and illegal storage of hazardous waste. The waste consisted of old television and computer monitors containing Cathode Ray Tubes, which have large amounts of toxic lead. Gravitt formerly operated Global Environmental Services in Georgetown, which recycled electronic waste.
