On Friday, November 16, 2018, around 12:10am, Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst received a complaint of a vehicle leaving the roadway and getting stuck in the yard of a residence on Green Acres Lane in Barbourville. When Deputy Ashurst arrived, the vehicle was observed stuck in the yard and the driver still inside. The driver, identified as 49-year-old Doyle Carnes JR, of Barbourville, refused to exit the vehicle and would not respond to commands to keep his hands in sight. Deputy Ashurst had to break the window to remove Carnes, who became combative and had to be physically subdued. During his arrest, he was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and four syringes. He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
