As the winter weather season approaches, Kentucky Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee have designated December 1-7, 2018 as Winter Weather Awareness Week in Kentucky. Michael Dossett, Director for KYEM, said winters in Kentucky can range from mild sunny days to historic snowfalls and Kentuckians need to know the risks associated with severe winter weather. During Winter Weather Awareness Week, families, communities, schools and business are encouraged to review emergency plans, build or resupply emergency kits, and educate others on the hazards of winter weather.
