Kentucky State Police Post 13 Hazard are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision in Breathitt County. The collision occurred around 10pm Friday, November 30, 2018 on Highway 15 in the city limits of Jackson. Preliminary investigation determined Baxter Gwin was operating a 2000 Ford Mustang in the northbound lane of KY 15 when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, colliding with a 2010 Toyota Camry operated by 21-year-old Benton Lockhart of Hazard. Gwin was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. Lockhart was transported to Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson for treatment of minor injuries and released. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time, and routine toxicology results from both drivers are pending.
