Update: Kentucky State Police have updated details from their investigation into the fatal fire that occurred in Prestonsburg on Monday, December 3, 2018. As a result of the fire, the body of an 8-year-old boy was recovered from inside the residence. The father of the child was transported to Highlands Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries received at the scene. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and has not been determined at this time. Detectives and Arson Investigators are continuing to investigate.

Original Story: Around 11pm Monday, December 3, 2018, Kentucky State Police Post 9 Pikeville responded to a house fire with entrapment on US 23 in Prestonsburg. As the Prestonsburg Fire Department arrived, and the fire was brought under control, a search was conducted with one person being located deceased inside the structure. KSP has opened a death investigation into this incident and further details will be released as they develop.
