Big Sandy Community and Technical College recently held an open house for their Nursing Program to allow prospective students and community members a glimpse inside the program. The Nursing Program began at the former Prestonsburg Community College and graduated their first class in 1974. Several program graduates have returned to the Nursing Program as BSCTC as instructors. Attendees to the Nursing Program Open House, which included potential students, parents, and community members, gained valuable program information, talked with current students, faculty, staff, and took a tour of the nursing lab. The Nursing Program at BSCTC will now become an Academic Career Mobility Program, which will streamline the curriculum and provide students multiple exit points and licensure opportunities for the licensed Practical Nurse and the Registered Nurse program. The new curriculum for this program will start in August 2019.
