Two Arrested in Harlan County on Drug Trafficking Charges

On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant at a residence located at 889 Ivy Hill in Harlan. The search warrant was the result of a lengthy investigation conducted the sheriff’s office. Upon arrival, individuals were observed inside the residence and refused to open the door. After announcing several times, deputies forced entry into the residence and executed the search warrant. Located was methamphetamine, hydrocodone, four handguns, and $18,620 in cash. Harlan County Deputies arrested 34-year-old Clarence Major III and 32-year-old Chastan Bennett. Other were charged with trafficking in controlled substance, and Major was additionally charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Both were lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.
