Attorney General Andy Beshear, along with a coalition of state attorneys general, is asking a federal judge to freeze a December 14, 2018 ruling that could eliminate the Affordable Care Act in Kentucky. Beshear said the group has asked for a stay or freeze of the ruling to ensure 1.3 million Kentuckians do not lose their coverage while a legal challenge continues by the AGs. The attorney general said the decision itself is unclear. The group has also asked the Texas judge to certify his ruling so that it may be immediately appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The federal judge is giving the parties seeking to dismantle the ACA until December 21 to respond to the motion by Beshear and the group of attorneys general, who have until December 26 to file their reply brief.
