On Tuesday, December 25, 2018, around 8:03pm, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal single vehicle accident on Mt. Zion Road. Investigators report that apparently the motorcycle driver, with a passenger, was traveling on Mt Zion Road when the driver lost control, ran off the road, then came back onto the road, sliding on the roadway. The accident resulted in fatal injuries to the driver, identified as 56-year-old Tony Swanner, of East Bernstadt, and minor injuries to his 12-year-old passenger. Swanner was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
