A Breathitt County woman was killed in a two vehicle crash the evening of Friday, January 4, 2019. Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 were called to the scene on KY 15 in the Watts community of Breathitt County shortly after 6pm. The preliminary investigation of this collision determined that 32-year-old Wilburn Neace, of Clayhole, was operating a 2008 Ford Escape in the northbound lane of KY 15 when the vehicle crossed the center and traveled into the southbound lane. Neace’s vehicle collided with a 1992 Chevrolet Suburban being drive by 65-year-old Eugene Turner of Vancleve. Both vehicles were rendered inoperable on the roadway. A passenger in the Suburban, 63-year-old Vonda Turner, of Vancleve, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Eugene Turner and Wilburn Neace were transported to the Kentucky River Medical Center for treatment of injuries incurred in the crash. Eugene Turner was later transferred to UK Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries. Neace was treated for minor injuries and was later released. Toxicology results for both drivers are pending.
