Wise County Sheriff’s Office Finds Student in Possession of Knife

On Friday, January 11, 2019, Wise County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Neal Addington received a call from Norton Police Department in regards to a social media post made by a Central High School student. The student was brought to the school administrator’s office to discuss the post. A search of the student’s backpack was conducted and a knife was located. A search of the student discovered a toy gun in the waistband of his lower back. The student was taken into custody and charged with two counts of possession of a weapon on school property. The student was committed to a juvenile detention facility. According to Superintendent Dr. Greg Mullins, no threats were made and no one was harmed.
