Grimes Announces She Will Not Run for Kentucky Governor in 2019

On Monday, January 20, 2019, Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes issued a statement regarding the 2019 election. In her statement, Secretary Grimes said that for many months, she had been considering a campaign to become Kentucky’s second female Governor in 2019. She said that she has received positive response encouraging her run, but announced that she will not be pursuing a run as Governor and will focus on her newborn son Ford. She added that she will help elect a new era of leadership and looks forward to returning to public service in the future.
