On Monday, January 28, 2019, the Kentucky State Police Post 8 in Morehead received a call for assistance of a stabbing which occurred around 2:49am in Elliot County. After further investigation, it was determined that 32-year-old Adam Kelly of Melbourne, Florida, had been in an altercation with 40-year-old Shannon Weddington of Sandy Hook. Kelly was stabbed by Mr. Weddington causing life threatening injuries. Kelly was airlifted to Cabell Huntington Hospital in West Virginia where he was later pronounced deceased. Weddington was charged with murder and lodged in the Rowan County Jail.
