Pike County Extension Fine Arts, Pikeville Poetry, and Pikeville Book Club have teamed up to announce the second annual “Voices of Pike,” a county-wide poetry contest for county, city, and homeschooled students in grades K-12. In addition to the student poetry portion of the contest, this year an essay component for adults had been added. The purpose of the Voices of Pike contest is to encourage increased participation in creative writing, thoughtful dialogue, and increase knowledge of Kentucky writer and civil rights activist Anne Braden. Submissions are due by Monday, February 25, 2019. Full rules and submission guidelines can be found here https://pike.ca.uky.edu/VoicesOfPike .
