Kentucky Chautauqua presents Nancy Green: Being Aunt Jemima, the Pancake Queen at Big Sandy Community and Technical College. Nancy Green was born enslaved in Montgomery County, Kentucky in 1834. She worked for the Walker family in Kentucky before moving to Chicago in 1872. Eight years later, she became “Aunt Jemima,” which allowed Green financial independence that few African Americans experience as the time. Nancy Green is portrayed by Debra Faulk of Lexington. This presentation is scripted by Bo List of Lexington. The performances will take place Wednesday, February 27 in the Gearheart Auditorium of the Prestonsburg Campus at 9:25am, and the Atrium of the Pikeville Campus on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 10:50am.
