Kentucky Annual Unemployment Rate Lowest Since 2000

Kentucky’s annual unemployment rate dropped to 4.3 percent in 2018 from 4.9 percent in 2017, while nonfarm employment gained 10,500 jobs, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics. It was the lowest annual jobless rate for the state since 2000, when the rate was 4.2 percent. The U.S. annual unemployment rate dropped to 3.9 percent in 2018, from 4.4 percent in 2017. Annual unemployment rates declined in 44 states from 2017 to 2018, and increased in three states: Colorado, Oregon, and West Virginia, and was unchanged in Arkansas, Hawaii, and Maine.
