Firefighter Hepatitis A Vaccination Bill Heads to House Floor

Senator Johnny Ray Turner’s legislation to protect Kentucky firefighters has passed out of the House Veterans, Military Affairs, and Public Protection Committee Wednesday, March 6, 2019 and has headed to the House floor for consideration. Senate Bill 140 would expand its Hepatitis B continuing inoculation voucher program to include Hepatitis A vaccinations. Senator Turner said this is a safety and prevention measure that will benefit firefighters in every county in Kentucky. SB 140 is co-sponsored by Senator Brandon Smith of Hazard and would allow the Kentucky Fire Commission to pay the costs for Hepatitis A vaccines, as it currently does for Hepatitis B vaccinations, for all paid and volunteer firefighters.
