Congressman Rogers Making Effort to Keep Job Corps Conservation Centers Open

US Representative Hal Rogers is making effort to keep programs and jobs open at Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers across the country. On Tuesday, June 4, 2019, Rogers supported passage of an amendment that would prohibit elimination of the nine Job Corps Civilian Conservation Centers that are slated for closure on September 30, 2019, including the Pine Knot facility in southern Kentucky. The US Department of Labor and the US Department of Agriculture unexpectedly announced termination and reorganization efforts for all 25 Job Corps CCC facilities across the country last week. Congressman Rogers said little information was given on the closures, and that the Civilian Conservation Centers are an important part of Job Corps’ mission tailored to the need in our National Forest System.
